The Fiji Football Association has recorded a profit of $179,821 for its financial year ending June 30, 2006.
This is a substantial increase from last year where the profit margin was only $22,418. The Fiji FA derived its major income from world governing body FIFA which invested $418,453 as its annual grant.
This grant decreased from the previous year by just over $20,000. OFC grant totaled $140,986 this year compared to $139,846 last year.
The Fiji FA recorded increased revenue during the major tournaments including the Pillay's Garments Champion versus Champion, the Fiji Bitter Fiji FACT and the FMF Battle of the Giants.
The total income for this period stands at $2,498,668 compared to $2,372,099 last year.
The major expenses included investments in the national youth development programs. The total expenses for this period stands at $2,318,847 leaving the parent body with a healthy bank balance.
Fiji FA president Doctor Muhammad Sham Suddean Sahu Khan said without assistance from Government they still managed to do well financially.
Though the future looks bright for Fiji FA its national soccer league competition suffered a major set back for yet another season.
The Pepsi League competition lacked interest from fans. A total of $152,834 was collected from this year's competition. The expenses exceeded the income by $20,916.
The national league suffered a $16,000 loss in 2005.
