A late try to winger Lachie Turner spared Australia A's blushes as they salvaged a 14-14 draw in their final Pacific Nations Cup rugby match against Fiji in Suva.
Australia A, who finished second in the six-team round robin tournament, were outscored two tries to one and trailed for much of the match.
Winger Filimone Bolavucu scored both of Fiji's tries, each of which came from long distance in broken play.
Australia A trailed 3-7 at halftime and struggled in the heat, making numerous errors.
Hooker Tatafu Polota-Nau left the field early in the second half with an injury.
Fullback Cameron Shepherd kicked two penalties and replacement back Clinton Schifcofske a third to put Australia A 9-7 up.
However, Bolavucu pounced on a loose pass from centre Ryan Cross and ran 75 metres to give Fiji a 14-9 lead.
Australia A forced a tie when they turned the ball over from a Fiji scrum feed and Turner wriggled through a couple of defenders, but Schifcofske missed with his conversion.
