Nine-year-old Kenneth said Mothers Day was special as he celebrated it with nuns who had looked after him the past nine years.
When The Fiji Times asked Kenneth who was his mother, he pointed at Sister Litia Vali.
He referred to all the five sisters at the home as his mother.
Kenneth attends Saint Joseph The Worker School in Nakasi and has been living at the home since he was a baby.
Lunch yesterday at the home was curry chicken, roast cassava and rice.
Kenneth, who loves playing with children at the home, said they knew what the day was about and looked forward to lunch.
For the 26 children living at the home, Mothers Day was spent with the nuns. For those who do not know the whereabouts of their parents, the sisters' are their only family.
Pritika Swami, who has been living at the home since she was four, said she did not know where her mother was.
"I do not know where my mum is but I know that the children and sisters here are my family," she said.
The 14-year-old said Mothers Day was special because the girls at the home helped the sisters cook their favourite meals.
