The interim cabinet met for a briefing by the Police Commissioner Commodore Esala Teleni yesterday afternoon on the national contingency plans to be coordinated by the National Taskforce as members of the Fiji Nurses Association and the unions under the Fiji Islands Council of Trade Unions plan to go on strike.

Cabinet has also agreed that the Public Order Act will be fully enforced during the strike if the need arises.

It has also been revealed that the ministries have sent out circulars to members of the unions to inform them of the consequences if they go on strike.

Cabinet was also told that the military and the police have stated their readiness to assist in shortage of manpower in essential service areas such as hospitals, electricity and water supply.
